Questions to ask when looking for a vet

From Dr. WIlliams:

OK - here's a good one -ask him what texts he likes for ferret
diseases, and if he subscribes to any online information sources. How
often does he go to meetings and has he ever attended any ferret
lectures?"

Ha! How about if he is willing to spend his late nights on the computer
answering ferret questions, while his family sleeps. If he is spending
all his free time looking at slides from distraught ferret owners, who
are desperate to find answers, or if he is willing to spend his/her time
answering private e-mails and those on the FHL? I am also including all
those great new vets who joined this list, I think that the ferrets are
somehow able to get their owners hooked- vets are not immune. I am
thinking they have us all under a hypnotic spell. I wonder how many other
lists for cats/dogs, etc. have so many people willing to give up their
free time to answer questions?

I am just happy that my vet knew what I had was a ferret, and didn't mind
me showing him how to scruff her.
