Hi April,
A glucose of 175 is higher than normal
for most ferrets. Insulinomas cause LOW
glucose (ie below 70). If the ferret had eaten
shortly before the sample was taken or if that
lab's glucose levels run high then there is nothing
to worry about.
By the way, a higher than normal glucose would
be seen with diabetes which is a rare disease for ferrets.
Diabetes usually only occurs after surgery for an insulinoma.
However we do not think about diabetes untill the glucose
goes above 200. Since it has been 2 months, it would be
a good thing to do a fasting glucose (4 hours without food)
to make sure Bo is normal.
