My own opinion on these. We've used liquid Pepto Bismol when we first see
signs of a more severe, odorous diarrhea since the bismuth in it is somewhat
effective in killing helicobacter. To this we'll add Amoxicillin and
Carafate. If the ferret really is stressed by the Pepto (some actually like
it and look forward to getting it) or if the diarrhea continues past the 24
hours, we'll add or substitute Kaopectate. We've generally had excellent
results with the Pepto, though. I understand that some ferrets detest the
taste so much that they'll gag and even vomit. In that case I'd stop the
Pepto immediately so as not to further stress the ferret.
