Hi Kathleen,
Since most mast cell tumors are benign, you might
want to consider using cryosurgery to freeze it off.
The spleen may be the more serious of the 2 problems.
I would suggest a fine needle aspirate to try to diagnose
what the nodule is. Ferrets do just fine without a spleen,
but I would not suggest it for a 8 year old ferret.

PS People also do fine without a spleen. They took mine
out when I was 3 years old.
