Hey Jean!

We had one kid here in the shelter with bleeding ears - he had a tumor
growing inside the ear canal. We tried debulking first but they came back.
Finally the docs decided to remove the ear canal and sew his ear shut. This
was the only thing that finally relieved all of Kyle the ferrets pain....He
became known as the ferret squirt gun because he was at the vets so often and
he attributed vets to pain, so anyone examining him usually got a Kyle
shower! He was smart, too - he didn't use it all at once - one particular
visit he got the vet, two techs and an assistant!

But back to his ear - Kyle did not lose his hearing, and he looked a bit
crooked once the stitches were removed - but he was completely pain free at
that point and that was what was most important.

I understand the surgery is a little tricky - there is a major nerve that
runs close to the ear....but he did well afterwards and the change in him was
remarkable. Good luck!
