Subject: Re: Adrenal Ferret/Insulinoma

Hello FHL,

I just recently had my Tango in for adrenal surgery. He had his left adrenal removed and his right one debulked. They both were quite large the vet said. Before he went into surgery, I asked the vet if he would check his pancreas for insulinomas...he had been on Prednisone for a year (I have a new vet). Well, the surgery went well and the vet informed me that his pancreas looked very normal in color, size and no signs of insulinomas at all.

I'm wondering if he was misdiagnosed for insulinoma from the very beginning? I had him checked about a year ago because he was throwing up intermittanly, bloodwork was done and his glucose was very low so my vet started him on Pred (suspecting insulinoma). He did not throw up after that and she has kept Tango on it ever since. I'm wondering if he every really had insulinoma at all? My current vet told me to wean him off the pred and have his glucose checked again in a couple of weeks after he recuperates from the adrenal surgery.
Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
