Hi Melissa and SweetPea,
You are describing a swollen vulva that has not returned to
normal roughly 2 months post-op. This usually means the other
gland is still overproducing adrenal hormones. My guess is the
left gland was removed, and now you are having the problem
from the right gland. Since she is still a young ferret, surgery
would be
my first choice. My second choice would be to start her on Lupron
depot.
I use the monthly Lupron depot at 100-500 mcg/kg once a month.
I do not think steroids (pred, dex, etc.) will help. Topical
antibiotic
ointment or cortisone cream will help a little, but it will not
solve
the underlying adrenal gland problem.
