This drug has been tested with oral dosing (at least in dogs and
cats), with no problems. As it is a systemic drug (it has to be to
treat heartworms, entry of small amounts orally is likely of no
consequence. I'm not sure about the taste (most chemicals are
bitter, and there is no upside to making a topical prepartion
palatable) so I wouldn't be too concerned that they will develop a
taste for it.
