Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Digest Number 84/Christine & Benji
# 20 Nutrition

Looking at your diet; meat baby food, cat food, ensure and a little
canned
ferret food, it does not surprise me that you will have major
nutrient
insufficiencies and imbalances. The nail growth you described
sounds like a
biotin deficiency. The yellow hair can be a combination of iron,
copper and
possibly vitamin B12 deficiency or imbalance. I would recommend you
use
Totally ferret mixed with water, or Ensure in small amounts to make
a gruel
to the consistency that the ferret will eat. This is the type of
problem I
am the most concerned about when individuals start mixing a lot of
"good
sounding" ingredients. No where in your mix do you have a quality
ferret
food with sufficient vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and a BALANCE
or
Essential amino acids.
Sincerely,
DR Tom Willard
