Hi Kristy,
If your ferret has an insulinoma then it is time to treat her for
the insulinoma. 7 years old makes her a higher risk surgery,
so you may want to consider just medical management.
Medical management means starting her on Pediapred
to help raise the glucose level. If Pediapred alone does
not raise the glucose then Proglycem can be added.
Yes, you can feed her just Gerber's chicken or turkey
until she feels well enough to eat her regular dry food.
You can also use the Gerber's baby food with her regular
food, as a treat, and when she is not eating well.
Most ferrets actually like A/D, but if yours does not then
go with the Gerber's. For more on insulinomas read the
