Streptococcus is bacterial, and most warm blooded animals are hosts for
bacteria, especially sick ones. Was your DEW healthy at the time?

Neither you nor your ferrets will be able to avoid the various bacteria and
viruses you'll all be exposed to over your lifetimes.

Sorry to hear that. Was strep the cause of death?

My guys have had stuffed up noses and sniffles and so have I. Usually at
different times, sometimes not. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless
the ferret is already compromised.
