Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Digest Number 94/Obesity from
Patric in Raleigh

Obesity in ferrets is somewhat rare. However, you have described
one that
sounds obese. First, please get the ferret off the cat food.
Remember, that
ferrets will increase their body weight 15 to 30% during the winter
months.
After returning to the ferret food and if you elect to go back on
Marshall's
then reduce the food intake by approximately 5%. Before doing this
I would
weight at least until June to see if her weight decreases. If after
a couple
of months the weight does not decrease then try feeding Totally
Ferret for
older ferrets. This has 15% less fat than the Totally Ferret
active.
Please come back on here and let me know how it is going after June.

Please get her off the cat food.
