Hi Lisa,
Islet cell carcinoma is another name for insulinoma.
You can read the Modern Ferret magazine issue #27,
or check out Mike's website and Dr Williams' web sites
for more info on insulinomas. You can never be sure that
you have removed "all" of the insulinoma from the pancreas
because sometimes it is there even though we can not see
or feel it. Now the key is to monitor his blood glucose levels
to see if or when it comes back. 4.5 is still young, so you
can do a second surgery if necessary in the future.
