Hi Marie,
Yes, being in heat for 2 months and her older age would
make her more likely to have a pyometra. Open vs closed
is a little harder to say without seeing the discharge.
If you are seeing a purulent discharge from her vulva
then it is likely an open cervix (ie the cervix is open, the
pus is coming from the uterus, and going out the vulva).
Terramycin is oxytetracycline. No, it would not be my first
or second choice to use to treat a likely E. coli infection.
I would go with Baytril and/or Clavamox. If it is a pyometra
then it is unlikely the kits will survive, so I would not wait.
