Yes, it sounds like you had ECE about 11 months ago.
Sorry to hear that Darby died from it. The liver enzymes
might have been elevated from him not eating and getting
what is commonly called "fatty liver syndrome." The body
starts to use the stored body fat and the liver simply can not
handle
all of that fat. It is pretty common in cats, and we do see it
some in ferrets. Yes, your new ferret could be having
stress induced diarrhea, or it could be bringing ECE back
into your house. Keep a close eye on the new one and monitor
your other ones for diarrhea too.
