Dear Molly: You can find out most of the information you need to
know about ECE by searching the archives of the FHL or at my Web site
at http://www.afip.org/ferrets

In short, it does sound like a mild outbreak of ECE in your house.
ECE is transmitted by inapparent carriers for at least 6 moths and
maybe more. You can transmit it on your hands and clothing - feret
to ferret contact is not needed.
