Anemia

Would Pet Tinic be the same thing as Dyne? Should I be adding this to
Champ's (renal failure) soup? Which one? Either? How much? How do you
test for anemia? Is this part of the CBC? Champ will have bloodwork
again
in about a week. We have added a potassium supplement as his potassium
levels are low.

I have printed out your entire post to take with me next week.

Pet tinic is more of a vitamin/iron supplementation/ Dyne is a high
calorie supplement, there is a good thread on Dyne and STAT just a few
weeks ago, search for it in the archives- it lists the uses and the exact
ingredients.

Anemia is low red blood cell count, and based usually on the hematocrit
%- this is on the CBC.
The anemia from chronic renal failure is different- it is from a few
mechanisms , on of which is the decrease production of a hormone,
erythropoietin that is a potent stimulator of RBC (red blood cell)
production. So, in renal failure erythropoieten (epogen) can be given
as injections a few times a week if needed.
