Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] RE: Our 6 month old ferret's lymph
nodes are extrememly swollen

I got some more info - I also asked her to send me the lab
reports, and suggested another vet, since she isn't far from
me in NJ:
From
Lillaper@aol.com:
He (the vet says cushings
and adrenal disease is the same thing, so I wonder what he's
doing) Today we
will get the results back from the cbc test, and he also redid
the blood test
for thyroid for a 3rd time. The major problem for our boy is
his lymph nodes
are all swollen. In the beginning of March he threw up 5 times
in a row, we
took him to the emergency vet and they put him on an
antibiotic for a week,
still he was always laying around and sleepy (which started
about 3 days
before he threw up repeatedly) Then XXX Vet put him on
stronger
antibiotics for a week. His attitude is better, he plays with
his sister
again and has energy. His stats are:
age: 6 months old
sex: male
spayed: yes
diet: dry food (kaytee and 8 in 1), we used to give him 8 in 1
wet food
before he
gained weight rapidly so we stopped the wet food a
month ago.
weight gain: lost weight when he threw up and has gained a
pound a month for
the
last 2 months.
The vet took his blood and urine tests twice now and they say
he is negative
for diabetes and his thyroid is fine. Although both times all
of his results
came back extremely high for his cholesterol level, glucose,
etc.
This is all the info I have for now, we are waiting to hear
back from the vet
today for 'today's' results. I am very appreciative for your
help, we love
him so much and just want him healthy. I will respond back
when I hear from
the vet. Thank you so much.
