In my personal experience and from what I have learned with
my vet... virtually every ferret I have seen come into rescue
who had eated a really low quality diet (tender vittles, meow
mix etc) for a substansial amount of time (I used to say more
than 2 years but had it happen with one not quite even two
year old).. we have seen some degree of kidney and/or liver
damage.
