Hi Amy
In my experience, the increased odor is throughout the body, not just the
head. It has always been a heavier musky smell and I never noticed if there
were areas of the body that had concentrations of smell.
I would have your little guy checked for ear mites, just in case. I have
noticed that in the ferrets that I am treating for ear mites, the smell
around their ears is noticeable and the wax is dark and abundant.
