<< Hello all,

Just a quick question for the vets (or anyone else who can tell me).......Is
Otomax safe to use in a ferret with a mild/moderate yeast infection? It is
labeled for use in dogs only, but my vet has said he uses it in cats
occassionally without problem. My main concern though was that I found a
warning at Ferret Central about using ear drops containing betamethasone BP,
neomycin BP and monosulifiram. The warning also said "It is recommended to
avoid using this medication for ear mites in ferrets, and to check other
medications for those ingredients". Otomax contains gentamicin sulfate,
USP;
betamethasone valerate, USP; and clotrimazole, USP.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Stacia - I am a couple days behind on the list, so hopefully someone has
responded to your by now. Gentamicin sulfate is contraindicated for use in
ferrets. Please check with your vet for another medication. Best regards,
