Hi Tamara, nice to see another Canadian on the FHL. The
scratching might be due to dry skin and/or earmites. When you
clean her ears what color is it and is there any smell? Ear
wax is usually brown in color and really has no smell. Ear
mites will show as dark brown to black and be somewhat crumbly
and somewhat smelly. Either way you may want to get a vet to
take a look.

On the bath issue twice a month seems like a lot. This could
be stripping the oils from your ferrets skin causing dryness.
I usually bath my furries about three times a year. Once
during each shed season and sometimes once in between, that is
if they have not been doing any mud swimming. You also might
consider using the ppp ferret shampoo as well. I have never
used the tee-tree shampoo before so I can not comment on it.

As for litter some people use corn cob pellets ( Haven't tried
them myself), or untreated wood stove pellets and various
others. I usually only put the litter in the box and blankets
on the bottom of the cage.
Hope this helps.
