Hi Joy,
I don't know if I'm going to really help but I just lost a ferret
that my vet could never figure out what was wrong with, excpet
something neurological. He came down with a bad case of diarrhe (not
ECE) I had to nurse him back to health by giving SQ fluids for about a
month. However, he was never the same after that. Had many of
symptoms you have described, (not using the litter box,
disoriented..ect) He lived for about an another year before he seemed
to get another bout of diarrhe, and after fighting it for two months,
we decide to put him to sleep. At the end he was forgetting to go the
bathroom completel and on a reflex test he had poor motor function in
his rear legs. I know this doesn't give you any answers but I doubt
that he is in pain.
