OH my I have had ferrets all my life. Then we had the same thing happen...and
I had to witness a 6'1" man on his knees....holding a seemingly dead or dying
ferret to me crying, and begging me to "do something". It was horrifying.
That ferret was deaf. If you go to my deaf ferrets sight you will see this
same ferret in this "dead ferret sleep" in my husbands arms as an adult. It
is common in deaf ferrets. I dont know why......if you're there holding
them, moving them, gently shaking them, etc, etc....they don't wake. I mean
I"ve had the others sleep deep and not wake...but not to the extent where you
"can't" wake them.
