Subject: Bruiser/Laetryl

My ferret Bruiser, has what was diagnosed by our wonderful Dr Williams as
a low grade sarcoma,on his cheek. This is in a very bad location. His
eventual outcome is terminal...(aren't we all, tho)This has been going on
since early February. To see him, the left side his face resembles that
of a rattle snake. His eye is facing forward,so i'm sure his
vision,impaired.
OK,Dr Williams,here goes.....(sorry) I have decided to give laetryl
injections,0.02.5 ccs once per day, then we mix his Gerbers Chicken with
1/8th tsp shark cartilage and add 1 cap shark oil....he also has 2.5 mgs
of pred once per day.....
Today will be his 5th treatment. The tumor HAS changed in appearance. This
may be due to the pred, the natural progression,I do not
know....however,I am praying that this VERY controversial "Vitamin" is
working.
I would like to hear anything from anyone who has used this therapy and
from anyone who has EVER had a ferret with a large tumor on his
cheek....(especially one which has/had cancer cells)
I would like to know of any alternative therapies......I am spending
about 6 hrs per day educating myself on anything I can get my hands
on......
So come one,Come all...........Send me EVERYTHING,FLOOD MY E/Mails......
PLEASE.....He is my baby and I promise not to stop.....
This is a weird cancer....large growth but no pain (chews kibble on THAT
side),beautiful teeth, no blood upon aspiration,he eats like a horse
(this was even before the pred, weighs in at 3 lbs) very active (just
very protective of his eye) and is one big funny lookin' BEAUTIFUL
ferret...............
So please help me here and "shorten my trip" and LENGTHEN
his.............
With Love & Thanks........
Tara
