It sounds like your vet is thinking that there could be an infection
and may be trying to reduce it with antibiotics. Hind end weakness
is very unspecific; as very wide range of things can cause that, so
the fever is likely the primary clue right now. If the health does
not respond then more inquiry in the form of testing is the logical
next step.
