Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: Ear Mite Problems!

Hi Tracy,
Doramection is a medication in the same class as
ivermectin (Ivomec), selamectin (Revolution), etc.
I do not know if it is available here in the US.
Your 2 ferrets with the waxy buildup in the ears
most likely still have an ear mite problem. I would
suggest using the drops for another 3 weeks (on all of your
ferrets and any other pets), continue with the frequent
cleaning of the ears, and wash all of their bedding,
hammocks, etc. Some cases may take 3-6 weeks to
clear up. Usually after 3 weeks the mite eggs have hatched,
and you have the "second batch" of ear mites to treat.
If you still have mites after 6 weeks then it is time to
change medication for the ear mites.
Hang in there,
Jerry Murray, DVM
