Katharine, you are right in the overall concept of protein levels.
compare foods of different moisture levels you divide the listed
level by the percentage dry matter. This is obtained by subtracting
moisture or water from 100%. Yes, low protein from food meant for
not sound advice unless the person making the recommendation does
