Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] RE:Eukanuba's kidney diet

More info on Eukanuba's Multistage renal (kidney)
feline can food. The actual protein level is 7.9%,
the fat level is 6.51% and the moisture is 74.9% (as is).
The dry matter protein level is 32% and the fat level
is 26%. This is the minimum recommended protein for
ferrets and a higher fat level than most ferret and kitten
foods. In addition it has a low phosphorus level, a high
potassium citrate level, and a high level of Omega 3 fatty acid.
No, it is not designed for ferrets, but until we have a ferret
"kidney diet" this is a good option for older ferrets
with chronic kidney failure.
Hope that clears up some of the confusion,
Jerry Murray, DVM
