There is no given time frame - it all depends on the lab. It also
depends on whether your vet sent harvested tissues, or an intact
cadaver was sent to a state lab. Some labs are fast, some are slow.
Some may take a while longer, as ferrets are not the typical species,
so it may take a while longer to get to a diagnosis.

When I ran my lab several years ago, a necropsy wsa complete in 48
hours after receipt. Today, I only take cases of interest, and I
have to fit them in as my other duties allow - I actually get very
little time to spend in the lab these days (but on the other hand), I
don't charge for the cases, and I run all of the ancillary tests
needed to get to the definitive diagnosis also at no charge.
