Subject: rotating vaccine manufacturers
I have 2 new kits who are due for their third distemper shot. Since the
breeder gives them Galaxy, and my vet uses Fervac, I asked him whether
there were any issues with switching the vaccine manufacturer.
He said actually there is some belief (at least for cattle--he does lots of
farm work) that rotating vaccine manufacturers each year produces a broader
immune response and is better.
Has any research been done on this with companion animals and what are
other vets' thoughts on this? Might it make vaccine reactions less likely?
