Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Ferret is Zoning...

Recently, I've noticed some really strange behavior. Most of
the time, she's zooming around like normal, but now and then,
she'll slow down. I mean, really slow down. It's as if she's
zoning out and staring into space. She'll flatten a bit and
lower her head. Sometimes it's accompanied by a 'flopsy-mopsy'
type of movement, as if drugged. If you move or call her, she
usually snaps out of it, and acts normally for a while, but
usually this happens in groups of episodes. If you pick her
up, she will lay in your arms for much longer than seems
normal for her.

Julie, the best thing about diagnosing Insulinoma is that it
isn't that invasive (at least compared to a biopsy of some
kind). Just ask the vet to run an in house glucose test on
the ferret and if it is low then you have your diagnosis. It
would be nice to do it when the ferret is acting "weird", but
I think it would show up on a random test.
Since she is 5, may get a CBC for a screening since they have
to draw blood anyway.
