Subject: RE: [Ferret-Health-list] Oh, THAT Devils Club!

Living in Alaska we were always warned not to eat the
berries from Devils
Club and really just stay away from it. I thought that was
because they
were highly toxic. If people are marketing a Devils Club
product does that
mean it isn't a toxic plant?

Just curious,

Roberta

[TANSY] Um Roberta any plant can be toxic....I do know
however, that Devils Club was used by Native American,
especially of the Northwest Coast. I don't know what part of
the plant they utilized...I'd have to pull out my
Ethnobotany books. I believe it's the inner bark that is
used in modern herbals.

Just as an FYI my computer came down with a virus, I gave it
a little tea with honey and a shot of Norton's, but I am
behind on setting up questionaire/database on people's
results with Devil's Club.
