Subject: Question about a swollen vulva

Hi-

Our 5-year old ferret had adrenal gland disease about 6 months ago,
which was operated on. They removed the left (the easy) gland, and
she returned to good health. This past week however, we noticed she
has a swollen vulva, which, in our research we found that this is
generally a symptom of Adrenal gland disease. We see no other signs
of hair loss, lethargy, or any other problems, and she seems very
happy and playful. Is it possible that she has a problem with the
other adrenal gland? Can it be operated on (ie Can a ferret live
without both it's adrenal glands)? Would she require some type of
hormone replacement? If it's not Adrenal gland disease what else
could it be? And what can we do about it? We are going to take her
to a vet who specializes in small animals, but they don't seem to be
too helpful with our questoins.

Thank you so much for whatever help you can give.
