I have the owners leave food and water in with their ferrets until they drop
them off at the clinic before surgery - usually about two hours pre-op is
plenty of time to withhold food and water, and doesn't risk a problem with an
undiagnosed insulinomic. Hopefully your vet has (or will do) pre-surgical
bloodwork, so that shouldn't be a big concern, but still...
