<I have a 1 1/2 old MF m.He was surrendered almost 2 weeks ago.Been
<fed Nutriphase ferret food.Was a normal fert.Now he's gotten
<depressed at not being able to follow his human boy everywhere as
<he'd done before.He's lost weight & is stumbleing some but no hind
<end loss.I realized he has the sytoms of ulcers as his tummy rumbles
<all the time.Tarry looking stools.My vet thinks I'm correct & told me
<to continue to give him Tetracycline & Pepto.I also feed Bob C's
<chicken gravy every 3-4 hours.Is there anything else I can do to help
<him?


I think you are treating possible Heliobacter infection causing ulcers??
I have seen Tetracycline/Pepto/Flagyl combo in humans, but not just the
two, but I am not a vet.
You could consider something to coat the ulcers- carafate is used- if he
is grinding his teeth, and still black tarry stools.
Although, at least in humans, should be given 2 hours after the
tetra/pepto combo so it is absorbed properly. I think may be right and
he may be depressed from the change in his life. Maybe just upset
stomach from the move, and new food, and stress? Perhaps some people
that run shelters can give info on how to deal with this part of it.



I hope he is better soon.
