Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Stinky ears

"> I have a 4 year old Path Valley male who's ears always stink.

I had a PV male that had the same problem. Ear infections, checked for
mites several times (none found, but treated anyhow), etc. His ears were
always dirty (not really stinky, tho). We cleaned them a few times a
week
and it has seemed to help him heaps!"

I have one too!! A male albino of mine has the stinkiest ears, also
checked out negative for mites, and I have treated a few times to be sure
(treat the whole crew), once in awhile another ferrets ears are icky and
the ear mite treatment works well, but not for the albino boy. ALso, I
noted that the area right around the ears looks icky, with debris from
the ear on it- making me believe that it is mites, although the test
showed none. I clean them every other day, and this does help some, I
feel bad if there is something else I can do. They don't seem red, and he
doesn't complain about the cleaning.

I am looking forward to any suggestions.

Patty
