Subject: New member intro
Greetings, groups. This is my joint introduction to FOBFerrets and the
Ferret Health List.
Some of you already know me from the alt.pets.ferrets newsgroup, but I
finally had to come over to the Yahoo side for a dose of Bob C and some
veterinary advice. (Note, I'm not planning to desert apf!) I also
found that reading the FOBFerrets archive was not sufficient, because I
can't resist the lure of being able to respond to certain topics. For
example, unlike RRC, I happen to know the answer to the pig orgasm
question. B-)
Currently I'm an animal scientist at the University of Georgia,
specializing in beef-cattle breeding (quantitative genetics). I was
accidentally introduced to ferret fanaticism in January 2000, when a
stray fuzzbutt turned up on my doorstep in the middle of a winter
storm. (In Georgia! Can you believe it?! And this born NJ yankee
with 15 years of midwest living under his belt is here to swear that
this was a *real* winter storm -- not just the couple of snowflakes
that the locals call "severe".)
Unfortunately, Pogey had to leave us on New Year's Day, so I am
currently without fuzzy companionship. I plan to rectify that
situation as soon as I finish up some additional ferretproofing and
locate 2-3 needy adoptees. Meanwhile, I'm glad to be here enjoying
and/or learning from all of your experiences.
