Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: one eye closed?

I have used Collodial Silver with good success. It helped save Zephyer's

eyesight, though i didn't start it soon enough. She had a bad cat?
scratch
over the cornea. someone suggested i try the Collodial Silver. i got a
very
low amount ppm (parts per million).

I started with a drop in the eye twice a day. the slowly tapered off
after
the first week to once every day (about 2 days) and then to once a week,
then
as needed. (when the eye teared up, every few months)

I hope this helps.

I don't know about ferrets, but I would never put anything into an eye
that wasn't specifically tested as safe for use in an eye- that goes
for topical creams, and other medicines. Even bacitracin has
an opthalmic form that is made just for the eyes.
However, it may be fine to use in the eyes, I don't know much about
it, I guess it is more important to know what is wrong with the eye
first.

Anyway, first things first, if the ferret is still closing the eye, have
a vet look at it, and even use the flourescin strip to see if any
abrasions or injuries to the cornea are there.
(well that is what I would do for a human, I am guessing ferrets
would be the same)
