Dear Katherine..so very sorry to learn Barney has insulinoma:
I pretty much follow the regime that Stephanie mentioned for
my 7yr old ferret female...Zoey...the only thing I have done
different in the past two days is add a pinch of brewers yeast
and a pinch of garlic as mentioned in the health page of
Ferret Central. I cant remember from your Post whether you
mentioned Barney would also be on Proglycem...Zoey at first
wasnt on Proglycem but we resorted to this with her second bad
episode. I also have Karo (cornsyrup) handy at all times in
case of seizure which you rub on his gums to bring him around.

I have fed Icabod chicken baby food mixed with kibble (MF
ferret food) and a little bit of water every 2-3 hours along
with free feeding him the kibble. Frequent small high
protein meals will help keep his blood sugar levels even.
And remember to not give any treats that contain sugar.

I just found out that my 7 year old fuzzy barney has
insulimona. he's on predisone and i found a recipe on
the net for a special treat with lots of vitamins and
baby food and chicken broth. does anyone out there
have any tips on living with my barn? during his exam
the dr found a large tumor in the belly are and
cataracts in both eyes. she decided that to operate
would be a death sentence and as long as he seems pain
free we'll let the tumor alone. any help out there?
