Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Teddy Bear is gone

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, don't give up on the
surery idea it is possible that Teddy Bear had more
problems that complicated the surgery.

I did get the first post today and was thinking that a ferret
that is just post-op with bloody stool and sent home is
not a good idea. The thought of bloody stool and looking
weak probably meant some kind of shock to his system and
I was thinking he should have been more closely observed
for SQ fluids and signs of internal bleeding.
You said you were giving him fluids, and he did drink and
eat some, so I think you did everything you could have
done for him.

Let us know what the necropsy shows, maybe the vet
will do it for free so he/she will know what went wrong
being he died so soon after the surgery.

Again I am sorry for your loss, and think you did everything
you could, and gave Teddy Bear the best.
