Subject: How long for medications to kick in

I would love any help with this. First off, Icabod was doing
pretty well after his surgery and then started going back to
the way he was before surgery. He then got his staples out,
last weekend, and got a Lupron injection and started on the
Prednisone. Since both he doesn't seem any better. He still
cries and strains when he urinates and he is still lethargic
and has hind end weakness. How long before the medications
kick in? Should I talk to the vet right away to modify doses
or does it take a little while for the medication to build up
and help him. I just keep hearing about how, at least at the
beginning, people say the pred gets back the fuzzy almost to
normal. I just keep hoping that tomorrow he will gain more
strength and he won't cry when he pees. I'm also feeding him
often and made a large batch of a modified duck soup. I used
chicken baby food and Iams wet kitten food at 50/50 and then
added his ferret food and ferret tone. He has this about every
4-6 hours.

Any insight would be very welcome.
