Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] how many calories a day?
I'm not sure how many calories a ferret needs a day but I do
believe that
your insulinomic ferret needs more than the baby food. I believe
that the
baby food is to be used as a supplemental food. That they still need
a ferret
food that has all the nutrients ferrets need. A lot of the duck
soups are a
combination of ferret food, the baby chicken food and sometimes a
few other
nutritionally advantageous ingredients as well. One of our ferrets
has
insulinoma and he still eats his pellet food, then we give the
supplemental
feedings also. I would definately ask your vet. You can also look up
the duck
soups. Some are specifically for ferrets with insulinoma and some
have
ingredients that an insulinomic ferret should not have. ie;
ferretone and
ingredients with sugar. So, you have to look at the ingredients.
Hopefully others who are more knowledgable will respond.
Good luck.
