I didn't see the original post but want to add a comment here.
First, if the ferret in question is an old ferret, I wouldn't worry about it
too much.
Miss Stella is insulinomic and since she was first diagnosed, she rarely
eats her kibble, even when she is caged. I am not sure why this is, but have
seen the same thing in a couple of other of my insulinomic ferrets, although
their not eating kibble is not as extreme as Stella's.
I have to work hard to get food into her. She does eat baby food, and duck
soup based on baby food quite readily. But her eating habits have changed.
But she is 7 and so I am just not worrying about it too much. Anything she
wants, she gets. ;-)

yes if it is a younger ferret, you do need to worry about balanced
nutrition.
