When my Taz was diagnosed with Lymphoma, the diagnosing vet only had
her on .25 cc of Prednisone (a 20 mg tablet dissolved in 20ml of
water) 1 x day and that was only with my insistance...After talking
and researching about Lymphoma and it's treatments I did seek a
second opinion...That vet was very aggressive with her treatment and
for that I am thankful...he initially had her on 1 ml 2x day then
after about 6 months increased it to 2 ml 2 x day...I also had her on
Essiac from day one so with the combination of both of these I
strongly believe that is what kept her alive for the additional 16
months after being diagnosed..her qualilty of life was great, she was
spunky, ate like a pig (only softened TF) and still very curious..up
to 14 hours before she passed away she was fine..what did her in was
a ruptured tumor but not a Lymphoma tumor if that makes any sense..
Prednisone also helped with her appetite which I was happy about and
her Pred belly can prove that..
So that is my experience with Lymphoma and high doses of
Pred...NOTE: if Taz was not terminal I probably would of never gave
her such high doses for a long period of time mainly because of what
I heard about long term uses but this was her only hope so we took
the very aggressive route... I hope this helps you a little... oh,
Taz was 5.5 yrs when diagnosed and weighed 2lb 4oz..
