Subject: Vets please: prednisolone dosage

Hello

My Jilly has insulinoma and is on pred, Jack gets it for lymphoma. My vet
told me to give Jack a 1mg tablet once a day, is that okay or is it better
to give pred twice a day? My vet also told me to give Jilly 1mg once a day
but I give it to her twice a day...

Now, Jack is 1.8kg, is 1mg not a very small dose? Should he be getting
more? If so, how much?

And Jilly is starting to experience very low sugars again, I did a blood
sugar reading last Saturday, Jilly had been just fine and not showing any
signs of low sugar but then she deteriorated before my eyes and I did a
glucose test and it was 25mg/dl... Is that very low? It's my first
experience with insulinoma... As I said, she gets 0.5mg morning and night,
I increased it to 0.75mg morning and night so 1 1/2mg per day but she isn't
doing much better, how much can I give her, can I just double her dose? My
vet isn't very experienced with ferrets, she is a great vet and knows a lot
but I think she thinks that pred is bad and that ferrets get a lot of side
effects from it like immune system suppression like other animals...

Thanks for any help...
