Subject: pretty sick little ferret...anemic

hi...
last thursday...6/21/01..i noticed my tiny 2 1/2 yr. old patterend white
female MF (spayed) ferret was rather white...i checked her
gums..white...the pads on her feet...white...her nose...white...[maybe
some yellowish cast..jaundice]

my phone was out...figures!...hubby at work...so i just stayed worried all
night...got the phone fixed friday morning...called jean at ferrets
unlimited...and then my vet...

both thought she needed immediate attention...and things did not look
good...

so off to the vet-tech...[vet was out that day]...blood test...her PCV was
23%...really not good..and suggested i get her to a vet right away...
so off to another vet who said they did ferrets...really nice vet...

here are the test results...

these dang things are greek to me...

i will TRY to decifer this...[between the [ ] is stuff HE wrote]

her PCV was down 3% from 3 hours earlier..but he said that could have been
from the stress of 2 vet visits and the car rides...

he had no answers...

he gave me High-Vite with Iron to give her 1/2 dropper ...twice a day...

heard from another friend..thought it might be AIHA...
but Sassy-too has been hanging on and all since thursday night...it is now
wednesday morning...i gathered from all i had read that with AIHA they
went really quickly..

addendum...i called her former mommy...and she said that Sassy has been
thru this before...they did not know what it was..they did surgery to see
if they could find out...her left adrenal was slightly enlarged...so just
took it out while they were in there...
she fed her A/D and pedialyte every couple hours and she came out of it...

i am also feeding a duck soup mixture with pedialyte in it...as far as i
klnow she is not eating and drinkling on her own..but eats real good when
i feed her...she is peeing good..and pooping loose...to be expected with a
liquid diet..

does any of this ring a bell with any of you?
is anything jumping out?

she is holding her own...sometimes she pinks up...sometimes she is
white...i see no pattern...

sorry this is so long..but wanted to get out as much info as i could...

thanks...
a worried mommy...
