There are enzymes which can do a bit of predigesting, but first may I
ask what tests have been done so far? We had a little one who seemed
to have something similar years ago but in her case hypertrophic
cardiomyopathy was found, after checking for many more common
possible causes first. It was found when we pulled out all stops and
extensive ultrasound work done. When she got on heart meds she
regained weight with no problem. (Unlike the more common variety
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be very hard to diagnose before a
ferret passes away of it so we were fortunate.) I have since heard
from several others who had ferrets with unexplained and serious
weight loss as the first symptom of this rare problem.
