Subject: ingesting rubber and seizures

at the clinic where I work a ferret came in that had
been not feeling well and generally "wasting." He had
blood work done and his liver enzymes were high.
During an exploratory, bits of rubber were removed
from his stomach. After the surgery he recovered
nicely and further bloodwork was normal. We figured
the rubber was what caused his abnormal bloodwork. If
the ferret reacted badly enough, could this be what
causes ferrets that have eaten rubber to seizure?
Have any vets noticed a corelation between eating
rubber and abnormal bloodwork?

Katherine
