I'm not a vet, but I have dealt with "rattail" in my own crew. What I
foumd to be the most help is Johnson & Johnson's Clean & Clear Foaming
Facial Wash. I scrub the tasil daily for a couple of weeks with the
Clean & Clear and a soft tooth brush. Then I rinse the tail and scrape
any remaining blackheads out with a toothpick. After a couple of weeks
you usually have a nice pink tail and can go to washing twice a week or
weekly. You may see hair groth in a month or it may take until the next
shed before it grows back.
